The Magical Unicorn Lake is open on all weekends, public and school holidays, and any sunny days during term time from April to the end of October, 11 AM till sunset, weather dependent.

Please aim to arrive 10 minutes before your session starts. We’ll check your tickets quickly, so have them printed or ready to show on your mobile phone.

What are the general rules at The Magical Unicorn Lake?

Stay seated at all times
No swimming or splashing
No smoking or alcohol
Be mindful of the wildlife
No picking up passengers
Only exit your boat at the jetty
Stay away from the lake edges
Do not cross floating lines
Be considerate of other users
Dogs are not allowed
All children must be accompanied by an adult (18+)
Report any First Aid incidents to staff immediately

How long is the unicorn boat ride?

You can choose between a 20-minute or 40-minute ride. The 20-minute option is great for a short introductory boat ride, while the 40-minute ride allows you to fully explore the lake. The Unicorn Quest adventure takes approximately 1 hour to complete. Your time starts once you depart from the jetty.

Public toilets are located behind the park’s café.
First Aid assistance is available if needed.

Whats the best way to get to the lake?

Accepted Answer

The lake is situated at the back of the cafe and playground in the middle of Barking Park, Barking, Essex.
The following transport lines have routes that pass near Barking Park:
Bus – 5, EL1, EL2; Train – Barking station on C2C, Overground and Underground – Barking station on District line. Train station is 10 minutes walking distance from the lake.

How to get to Barking Park car park?

PLEASE NOTE THERE IS NO SPECIFIC POSTAL ADDRESS for the lake itself as it is positioned in the middle of Barking park.

There are parking spaces on the nearby streets and two car parks inside Barking Park:

FREE car park is accessed via South Park Drive, entrance between allotments and bus stop. Use postcode IG11 8FF, Ilford, UK for directions.

PAID car park accessed via Long Bridge Road through the main Barking Park gates. Use postcode G11 8TA, UK for directions. This is the building right next to the park’s main entrance gates.

A limited number of general tickets are available on-site, but to guarantee your magical adventure, we highly recommend booking online in advance.

Can I get a refund on pre-booked tickets?

All purchased tickets are non-refundable; however, you can reschedule your booking up to 2 hours before your session or event start time. It is the visitor’s responsibility to check the weather and decide if conditions are suitable for their children before attending.

If you arrive late, we will do our best to accommodate you. If there is availability, and only at the discretion of the manager on duty, you may be allocated the next available unicorn.

If rain is forecast, we recommend rescheduling your visit for an alternative date or time. You can do this up to 2 hours before your scheduled session to ensure the best experience.

If your ride has been cancelled, we will notify you as soon as possible and advise you to reschedule your booking for another date or time.

While we are not responsible for any lost or stolen items, we’re happy to assist if you misplace something during your visit. So far, we’re proud to say that no such incidents have been reported. Any lost and found items are kept safely in our onsite office.
If you have lost something, please email us at info@splashandboatsltd.co.uk, and we’ll do our best to help.
Unclaimed low-value items such as towels, clothes, and small toys are donated to local charities at the end of the summer season, helping to give them a second life.
